WEATHER UNDERGROUND For The Associated Press= The low pressure system that was responsible for the widespread heavy rain in the Great Plains was expected to lift northeast into the Great Lakes and Northeast on Wednesday, carrying a cold front through the Ohio Valley and Tennessee Valley. This would result in widespread coverage of showers and thunderstorms east of the Mississippi Valley, with a risk of severe thunderstorms across parts of the Mid-Atlantic from Virginia to Pennsylvania. Farther south, from North Carolina across the Southeast, storms were expected to once again increase in the afternoon. Excessive moisture and seabreezes would help to enhance localized thunderstorms.
